You Are Entering Mountain Time Zone

So... last Sunday, March 20, I began my road trip with my friend Kathy. I took the Amtrak from Chicago to Macomb, IL, then sat at a diner reading "All Together Dead" by Charlaine Harris while waiting for Kath to show up. We ate, filled up on coffee and gas, and started towards Iowa. We made it through Illinois, Iowa, and part of Nebraska the first day. Stayed in Lincoln, then woke up on Monday and got through the rest of Nebraska, and a lot of Colorado. Of course we stopped in Denver (who wouldn't??)

We slept in Grand Junction, and then woke up on Tuesday and continued through Utah, a small bit of Arizona, Nevada (stopping at the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop... aka the Pawn Stars pawn shop) then made it through California to LA by Tuesday night. It was quite a drive and I took 222 pictures before my camera died.

It was a ridiculously gorgeous drive, and I'm so happy that I went :) I've never seen anything like it, and I clearly had a great time bumpin' along to music with one of my best friends.

You can view Kathy's blog here, she'll be seeing greatness all summer!

Spring Means Flowers

I'm not sure how it happened, but I've become slightly obsessed with making flowers for hair accessories. Maybe it's the weather changing, or something, but either way... I've gotten flower madness

These things are awesome! They lay decently flat on your head, too! They remind of me little girls' easter dresses :)

My room is filling up with these tiny flowers and I don't know what to do with them all! I've started listing them on Etsy, so someone else has the pleasure of cute flower hair flair...

That's it for now... I'm starting a road trip tomorrow with my wilderness guide friend, Kathy. We're driving from Macomb, IL to LA. It should be interesting :)

Rosette Madness!!

So... I finally made some rosettes out of a few of the fabric remnants I picked up at the thrift store! Exciting, I know. Using the dark blue, light blue, and pink fabrics I crafted a trio of rosettes for a thin black metal headband. After arranging them into a triangle on a piece of stiff felt, I added 4 champagne colored pearls for added flair :) This is how it came out...

cute, huh? It's currently in the inventory to bring over to my friend's consignment shop where she graciously agreed to let me sell my hair accessories! :)

I also made a light yellow rosette for myself, stuck it to some felt and a black bobby pin, and added a daisy-shaped button to the side...

Pretty much in love with this one :) Not to mention it looks super cute with my hair up when I'm headed to work (all black uniform needs a bit of flair) I might need to make some of these to add to my Etsy shop!
